When you become a corporate sponsor or individual supporter of the Salty Dawg Sailing Association, we welcome you as a partner.  We will work so that you benefit, as your support also works to the success of the Salty Dawg Sailing Association.  You also join a group of over 40 sponsor companies and individual sailors who are dedicated to safe and fun offshore sailing and passagemaking. The Sailing Association attracts sailors who are deeply committed to the sailing and cruising lifestyle… a willing and eager audience for the products and services you provide. Your sponsorship and support makes the Sailing Association possible and allows you to have a close relationship with these wonderful committed sailors.

The Salty Dawg Sailing Association is a R.I. registered nonprofit organization, and demonstrates its roll as an educational organization by fostering and teaching seamanship, safe boat handling, navigation and other skills needed by blue water sailors.  It does this through comprehensive educational seminars, rendezvous’s of sailors to share experiences and lessons learned, and safe rallies to foster hands-on learning opportunities.

Testimonial from George Day, Publisher, Blue Water Sailing magazine: “When Bill and Linda Knowles and I got talking about starting a new, rally for cruisers that would help sailors get to and from the BVI each fall and spring, I knew they were onto a great idea. There was another rally out there but it was expensive and not run in the true spirit of the cruising lifestyle. I am sure Bill and Linda and all of the great volunteers and sponsors who made the initial rallies successful didn’t anticipate what they were getting into, but we all are thrilled to be part of a grass roots cruising rally that we believe in. So, we are happy to be a top sponsor and look forward to many happy years supporting the Salty Dawg Rally.”

Sponsorship Levels:

The Salty Dawg Sailing Association has a strong list of sponsors, and more are always welcome. To help designate sponsor levels five categories have been established.

Admiral – $1500 or more
Captain – $1000
Commander – $750
Lieutenant – $500
Ensign – $250

Middletown, RI 02842

Sponsorship Opportunities:

Website support and promotion: As you can see, the website is designed to be filled with useful information about the Salty Dawg Sailing Association and the cruising lifestyle, and there is room along the side for your tile ad to promote your products and services.

Events & parties: The Salty Dawg Sailing Association has get-togethers at the start and finish of the rallies as well as a host of Salty Dawg Rendezvous through the year.  Sponsorship of these activities are always welcome.

Infrastructure support: Right now, the daily work of putting together the rallies, parties and communications falls on the capable backs of founders Bill and Linda Knowles. But as the Sailing Association grows, and it is growing, they will need some help and thus a sponsor could step forward to help fund a part-time, shore based assistant.

Seminars: The Salty Dawg Sailing Association Seminar Series promotes safety at sea, seamanship, weather forecasting, offshore communications, and health and welfare at sea. The Association hosts seminars for offshore sailors that are informational, fun and helpful for those who want to become blue water sailors, or are interested in furthering their blue water sailing skills. Participation and sponsorship of such seminars is a great way to interact with highly committed customers.
