MEET THE DAWGS: LORI AND DAN CARLSON
Boat name, length, type: SV BeBe Amel Super Maramu 53 Home Port: Well... the stern of the boat says St Thomas, VI but we have never lived there. That's where we bought and registered her. We actually live in Holland, Michigan Where are you now? We are in Holland, Michigan Which rallies or rendezvous have you participated in? We joined the Salty Dawgs when Covid-19 forced us to sail to the Chesapeake Bay for Hurricane season instead of Trinidad, as planned. The Homeward Bound Flotilla was exactly what we needed for that unexpected passage. We made that round-trip between the Chesapeake and the Eastern Caribbean three times with the Dawgs. Also, we have enjoyed the Midwest Rendezvous twice so far, where we have met up with fellow cruisers on land at a member's lake house. What have you gained from being part of Salty Dawgs? We have gained a community. It's a wonderful feeling when you enter an anchorage and find Salty Dawg flags flying and know you have friends (or future friends) nearby. Any major boat projects currently underway? Not major - just maintenance - and NEW COCKPIT CUSHIONS. Sailing plans for the next year or so? We plan to continue our cruising of the Eastern Caribbean. Starting in Trinidad where BeBe is stored presently. After nine seasons, our pace is much different than our first few years. We tend to stay longer in our favorite anchorages enjoying what each island has to offer and enjoying friendships we have made. |
